Proteomics

SPCLab

Proteomics is a modern key analytical technology focused on the comprehensive analysis of proteins within biological systems. It involves the systematic identification, quantification, and characterization of proteins, their modifications, interactions, and dynamic changes within cells, tissues, or organisms. The Smoler Proteomics Center's state-of-the-art instrumentation and expert staff provide comprehensive protein analysis services that drive innovation in biomedical discovery, drug development, and biotechnological research.

For more detailed information about all the unit’s services, please visit our Smoler Proteomics Center website.

Metabolomics and Lipidomics

The Multi-Omics Center includes two Metabolomics facilities that share some capabilities while complementing each other in different applications, each utilizing distinct methodologies. Projects are assigned to the appropriate facility based on the specific research questions.

The Bioinformatics Team

The bioinformatics team offers data analysis, consultation and training. We support researchers in designing their Multi-Omics experiments and perform data analysis. Our bioinformatics expert brings experience from both academia and industry, spanning genomics, transcriptomics, proteomics, metabolomics, and microbiome data. Through advanced algorithms and pipeline development, we focus on extracting novel insights from complex information, with strong emphasis on analysis of non-model organisms.

Ben Gurion Metabolomics Unit

The metabolomics unit at the Ilse Katz Institute for Nanoscale Science & Technology is equipped with three high-resolution (HR) MS instruments (from Thermo Scientific) with Electrospay Ionization (ESI), coupled with Ultra Performance Liquid Chromatography (UPLC) systems (from Waters). In case of mass-spectrometry, “high resolution” means the ability of the instrument to detect an exact molecular weight of compounds. Chromatographic separation ahead of MS detection is used to identify additional parameters of the compound, such as retention time (RT), and to reduce a complexity of analyte. Altogether, HR MS coupled with LC provides a precise and sensitive platform for the analysis of hundreds of known metabolites.
